The Problem With Political Correctness

It seems to me that over the past few years, the popularity of the disease that is political correctness has been on an incline, weaving its way into pop-culture and permeating throughout the masses. This issue has been touched on by many prominent figures on both sides of the political argument, so it is almost impossible to not be enlightened on such a controversial topic, or at least know of the idea. My stance on this issue is an unrelenting and tireless resistance, as it is a form of censorship, bullying and thought policing. I find it morally reprehensible to disallow someone to speak their mind openly and honestly. Someone who, by the way, might not have the intention of necessarily being offensive, just because they have the 'wrong opinions'.

Political correctness is an idea that originates from the Frankfurt School, where the intellectuals there invented what was called 'critical theory.' They, the members of the Frankfurt School, were all Jews. This is relevant because many don't know this, and it's important to realise: the Jews are in control of the media, Hollywood, culture and language. If you don't believe me, then tell me, who are you not allowed to criticise? The Jews and Muslims! How do I know this for sure? Because when you hold an opposing opinion of either, you get labelled an anti-Semite or Islamophobe. It is because of the Jewish intellectuals' hate for Europe, the West and Christianity that they founded the Frankfurt School and created this system of ideas that we're entangled in right now. The Jews also created the travesty that is communism. You might be thinking right now, "But Brad, you're starting to sound a bit like an anti-Semite and a Nazi!" You might be thinking this way because they shifted the cultural norms to make taboo or unpopular schools of thought or speech to be deemed offensive. It is because of the Frankfurt School that people are now afraid to say the wrong thing because it might offend someone, God forbid. From this, political correctness spawned. It attacks 'taboo' research such as biological differences, and gives rise to 'Newspeak'. Newspeak refers to a new way of referring to things by using words deemed 'less offensive.' This is evident in all the ways that have been used to refer to black people and the gays. Additionally, the changing nature of the phrases 'that's so gay' and the word 'retard,' have been turned into needlessly offensive terms, when they shouldn't have been. As political correctness becomes more popular, your freedom to say what you're really thinking starts to restrict. To find who has power over you, you must first find who you're not allowed to criticise.

The definition of political correctness is "the avoidance of forms of expression or action that are perceived to exclude, marginalise, or insult groups of people who are socially disadvantaged or discriminated against". I believe in honesty; honesty is virtuous, and a common goal that should be wide-spread throughout humanity. Speak honestly, be honest to yourself and speak truly. I'm an advocate for free speech and free expression, and will not stand idly by and either accept that I can't think or speak a certain way, or succumb to the powers that be and have my freedoms revoked. I implore you to follow suit. Political correctness isn't honest, it's authoritarian and it subjugates and silences dissidents. It's unnatural and should be exterminated.

I was raised with the old adage "sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me." And it's true, words can't hurt me... because they are just words. Now, it would seem, that a word, however offensive one can find it, has the same impact as a punch to the face. What is wrong with people nowadays? Everyone is such a wimp now! I mean, come on people! Racist, sexist - and whatever else you can think of - jokes also crumble under the weight of political correctness, as many people these days find those types of jokes to not be funny because they're 'offensive,' but they're jokes! They're not meant to be taken seriously! When comedy and humour begins to be sucked out of a society, you know there's trouble.

A politically correct culture is inherently divisive and toxic; criticisms are swiftly turned into 'hate speech' and opinions are made to be 'wrongthink'. People always say that "Oh, hate speech isn't covered under free speech though! You're just being a bigot." Not only does hate speech not exist, but it absolutely is covered under the first amendment! Too often have I seen people who possess certain conservative opinions be lambasted and defamed, likewise be told "No one asked for your shitty opinion." This is frightening. If this is the future of political and social discourse, then please, God, just kill me now. It's no wonder left-leaning people are always the people trying to monitor speech; they're the ones who prefer socialism and communism, since it's a left-leaning ideology, and prefer big governments - that is, government that imposes more regulations and rules on the people.

It is not uncommon for those of whom reinforce this concept to spout the lies of "Oh, it's just being polite!" No, it is not just being nice. Political correctness kills people. As I have previously mentioned in my article on rape culture, (which is a great article, by the way, you should check it out!) the Rotherham sex scandal was enabled by people who refrained from speaking out and telling the authorities about the Pakistani men that were up to suspicious behaviour. The cowards of that area allowed the abuse of 1,400 girls. Oh! What about the horrific San Bernadino massacre? Where the Muslim neighbours that moved in were receiving strange packages, but the neighbours didn't want to speak out because they feared they'd be racially profiling them.

At the original time of writing this I was reading the book 1984 by George Orwell. There's an array of authoritarian governmental control tactics that Orwell he describes and warns the reader of within, which is alarming and frightening. Such control is something I want to take part in thwarting at any cost. While I do think that it is not unlikely that government can replicate such behaviour in the future, I feel that I must, and I can't stress this enough, enlighten you of just how and who has enacted this in the past. Adolf Hitler, everyone knows him; infamous anti-Semite, eugenicist and leader of Nazi Germany, was known to order the execution of those who refused to align themselves with the Nazi regime. So, by refusing to conform and being a political dissident, the dissenting voices, who were brave to stand up for themselves, were executed. This is a real thing, and it's a threat to our freedom to our freedom, a threat to our speech, and to our freedom of thought. Any government that tries to control thought and spoken word, is one that should never be elected.

This is also perpetuated through cultural shifts, and has been this way within western culture for the last couple of decades, as speech codes have been slowly changing and changing. Once, African Americans were referred to as 'niggers' or 'Negroes' (and no, I'm not going to censor myself when it's the truth), then 'black people', following that, 'coloured people' and now, 'people of colour'. This is too much! Stop changing the terms so much! Yes, the original term is antiquated, but why not just keep it at black people? I mean, we still use the term 'white people,' so why is 'black people' so offensive?

I believe that electing someone as honest-minded as Donald Trump and giving rise to others who oppose such a divisive concept, would greatly help in counteracting it and securing freedom. Donald Trump is a man who isn't afraid to say anything and everything, and that's good! Self-censorship, silencing and changing speech is totalitarianism and it needs to stop. How would you like it if I told you how to think, speak and act? You wouldn't take too kindly to it, would you? So, given this, why do you think some people think it's okay to do this to others? This is yet again, another bully tactic that the Left uses in attempts to control people. I'm not buying it. Political correctness is a method of controlling speech and thought, and it shames people into self-censorship because they have the 'wrong ideas,' and it needs to stop. It stops the flow of open and honest conversation, makes things taboo when they shouldn't be and removes the humour from people when it's their natural reaction when dealing with tough times. Freedom begins at the individual, and not allowing them to fulfil his or her first amendment rights, are the warning signs of an oppressive, suppressive and unequal society.

I now leave you with a few quotes about political correctness and censorship:

“Those who make conversations impossible, make escalation inevitable.” ― Stefan Molyneux

“The term "political correctness" has always appalled me, reminding me of Orwell's "Thought Police" and fascist regimes.” ― Helmut Newton

“Censorship is to art as lynching is to justice.” ― Henry Louis Gates Jr.

“When truth is replaced by silence, the silence is a lie.” ― Yevgeny Yevtushenko

“What is freedom of expression? Without the freedom to offend, it ceases to exist.” ― Salman Rushdie
